The first mention of game in poker considers description Jonathan H. Green written to 1834 in which he describes rules of the deceptive game extremely popular among sailors, floating through Mississipi and other rivers USA. As Jonathan did not know the name of this game, he named its "poker".
The Europesky contribution to poker development has come to the end with introduction in 1875 of a joker - «a wild card». The origin of a word "poker" was long enough discussed. Eventually the majority of dictionaries and historians has agreed in opinion, that it has happened from the name of the French game popular in 18 century - «poque».
In the course of evolution the amount of cards used in game varied from 32 right at the beginning to modern 52 cards.
